I think your attitude is a little bit wrong. It's not about calming yourself down or saying that this will pass. Well, not in my experience. What it is about is diving at first into it. Letting it wash over you. Basically saying let's die right now. This is how you overcome it. Not by coping with or managing it. Yeah, on a smaller dose it may be easier to do that, but that doesn't solve the issue. Not really.
I mean, okay, there are some factors that contribute to it, but at the core of it this is the classic panic attack. And the only way people overcome panic attacks that I know of is when they decide to literally die right now. Yeah they don't end up dying just because they decided that, but end up never experiencing panic attacks again. And have an overall lighter demeanor towards life. Anyhow, I don't want to sound like I'm preaching here, I'm just trying to help but, hey I'm sharing my perspective. Take it or discard it.
