I have a pioneer dvl-919 laserdisc player and i cannot get the component output to display colors on my 70" vizio tv, it will only put out black and white on it thru that output.
I have tried both the lasedisc and dvd parts and same happens.
The composite outputs works perfectly fine and display colors thru both player functions.
The component cables are good, i have tried other cables and same results. There is no way i can find to change input settings on the tv or player, the tv says 480i for that input.
I bought a component to hdmi cable thing and it made no difference.
I took the player apart and checked the connections inside and on the circut board and there isnt anything loose or broken in there.

Im stumped, what do i do/try next?

Solved my own problem.
After accidentally stumbling apon some exremely old posts about a similar issue apparently the component cable output is only for the dvd on this machine.

Sounds like a 50/60mhz problem

Its not a hertz problem, it doesnt use component output for the laserdisc portion of the device, only composite according to the manual for it. Im too braindead to figure out the circutboard diagrams in the service manual to see if its at all possible to make it work.
I never tried the dvd player on it to see if it works at all and took the "ghetto" route of just running it thru a dvd recorder to upscale the video to composite.
