Scientology, the Mormon Church, there's evidence that those are cults because they demand your money, destroy friendships and families, engage in abuse, believe in nonsense, engage in thought stopping rituals (see "mind control made easy" by Carey Burtt), and many more negative traits.
What actual evidence do you have that the zeitgeist movement and the venus project are cults?
The only cult-ish behaviour I will admit to, is that I have posted zeitgeist movement material online and leader peter joseph has the monopoly over a lot of the zeitgeist materials, so I've been sent copyright strikes by him on youtube. This is when it's meant to be a movement which advocates open source.
But the materials I've been striked for are "mirrors" of videos free to watch already, it's not like an internal Scientologist only video like that goofy tom cruise video.
But my own "unofficial" zeitgeist movement content, he has failed to take down, like taking videos of putting zeitgeist moving forward DVDs in the local street libraries.
You don't pay to get into heaven, or pay to have apparent magical powers like in a typical church or cult when you join the zeitgeist movement or advocate the venus project.
On facebook, the zeitgeist movement encourages knowledge, so books related to TZM/TVP I have posted regardless of the "copyright", when copyright mind you is a form of plagiarism, you are plagiarizing reality when something is put under copyright because this reality has already allowed any combination a human can come up with. As the back in the box speech at the start of zeitgeist moving forward alludes to, everything in reality is owned by reality.
tl;dr: no, the zeitgeist movement/the venus project is not a cult.
