I say this often but this is what time travel should be used for: seeing long dead bands in their heyday.

Yea. Seeing bands performing after their twentieth year is sad.
I've always said 10-15 years is a good run for a band/show/movie series. Anymore than that is dross.

I don't know, John. I think it depends on the band. Converge, for example, have existed for 30 years and could easily do another 5, if not 10, before it becomes obvious that they are losing their energy. I suppose it helps that the founding members were like 15 when they started the band.

And alot of those oldie pink bands that are still active are all aging members whom weren't even the original founders. And it's the same distinction sludge from back in their youth. They never evolved. Punk is just gangster rap for edgy white boys who hate rap and pop.
Rock music went downhill with punk. Luckily, there's contemporary soft rock that's keeping rock music alive as it should be.

Punk officially died when the Dead Kennedys (sans JB) endorsed Mitt fucking Romney. Not that I was particularly attached to the genre myself or anything, but still.

The thread was less about punk, more about when a thread dies and I guess flyers that you may have on your wall. Could be flyers anything rave you went to, so indie band or like this one. Something that all these years later still makes you smile.

I remember Regan Youth too. I'm just surprised a later band didn't call themselves "Bush League".

Yeah, Punk is pretty much dead-as are most of the people in our local scene. I don't want to see decrepit old guys trying to be hardcore. Though I'd laugh my ass off at a show where the mosh pit was full of people with walkers.

I tried getting into punk once but I've never encountered a more generic genre. It all just sounds the same. Hardcore punk is slightly better. Trapped Under Ice is an alright band.

Punk is always tryna be "profound". Some of it is ok, but alot of it is just migraine inducing
