Having Adora become She-Ra will now read as the embodiment of Adora's dream of a better life come true and Adora exhilarating in the feeling of doing good in the glorious form of the Princess of Power, that releases her from the prison she was ensnared in.
Does Adora want to live in the city Eternos with her parents King Randor and his Queen Marlena Glenn, the astronaut from Earth? I cannot picture it. Even her twin-brother Adam, should not be able to persuade her. Adam does not know the horror of being used by the Horde as a weapon of evil for most of your life. A confrontation between Queen Marlena and Shadow Weaver is to be intriguing. Shadow Weaver was the only mother-figure in Adora's life. Queen Marlena can get obsessed with capturing and punishing Shadow Weaver because Shadow Weaver is responsible for making her daughter Adora, messed up. A pro-active Queen Marlena can be exciting and elevates her to the forefront of the cast of characters in a story.
The Sorceress as one of the people that comforts Adora and Spirit when their guilt rears its ugly head, is to be an added layer to her role in a story. The Sorceress is already known as the guardian of Grayskull and Teela's mother. She-Ra should definitely have her ability of healing animal life-forms with the power of Grayskull. This healing-power is to be something that Adora could be very proud of because she can preserve life with it, not destroy it. After being forced to apply power to dish out death, is it not soothing for Adora's tortured psyche to apply power to sustain life?

Looks really awesome. Always wanted to see Adorable in her Horde days.

The very last page was a good way to reveal who's face is behind the Hordak-mask, BUT it is garbage that the cover for issue 2 shows Despara fighting unmasked! When in the service of evil, Despara should fight as the MASKED Despara and NOT as an UNMASKED Adora! The current story-arc is exciting but everybody knowing that Prince Adam and He-Man are one-and-the-same does not make ANY sense to me. The price for Prince Adam is to be EXTREME! He is not to get a moments rest and assassination attempts to his person are to be on a daily basis. If Skeletor or Hordak do not kill He-Man when he is Prince Adam because of some NONSENSE "I want you to perish as He-Man' crap, then any other enemy who wants to get rid of He-Man BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, should simply follow He-Man and the moment he reverts back to Adam, STRIKE FOR THE KILL! Adam proclaims 'I AM the power' negates Castle Grayskull. I yearn to see Queen Marlena board her space-ship 'Rainbow Warrior' to blast the invading Horde-army from the sky, hell even better when she blasts the unmasked Despara on page 2 of issue 2 from the sky!

So I take it you like to analyze obvious plot points ?

Truly surprised about this since, to me, Giffen and co excel in tossing their salad ALL OVER He-Man and co. Reading the BUTCH Adora engage in battle unmasked BITES! Prince Adam is just there.. no feeling of excitement is stirred within me so no big deal. Teela might as well have dialogue that consists of 1 word (KILL!) 'cause, aside of her recognizing Princess Adora and vice-versa, she is soooooo GENERICALLY BLOODTHIRSTY. She is an addition to a panel that can be left out. Reading about Queen Marlena boarding her space-ship the Rainbow Warrior and use it to blast the invaders is, OF COURSE, a no-we-can't-be-bothered.

Despara's appearance UNMASKED illicits feelings of irritation!
It's soooo CLICHE that when the face behind the mask is shown, the character goes on unmasked. Aside from the powered-up Adam and Teela all the other eternians are shown how the butch Adora's face looks. Unnecessary-typical-development garbage!
The character Battlecat appears out of NOWHERE! When Adam transforms into powered-up Adam there is no need for Cringer to power-up because HE DOES NOT EXIST! There is ONLY Battlecat who only growls! How dull!
From the 80's I really liked, AND STILL DO, the performance of Allan Oppenheimer as Cringer and Battlecat. It's a GREAT aspect that made me like both Cringer and Battlecat. That's also an important reason why I could not get to like the He-Man series of 2003.

Apparantly, the Battlecat character was nearby, doing god-knows-what, only to appear with the explicit purpose to wound butch Adora. Oh wait, and of course to ride Adam to Castle Grayskull.

It sure is REVOLTING that all eternians can get in that place with ease. Like Teela remarked in issue 1; good riddance to the Sorceress.
King Grayskull has been established. God awful, since the original premise from the 80's was a hundred times better! Then there was He-Man who HAS the power which was GRANTED to him by means of the power sword by the POWER of Grayskull as in CASTLE Grayskull! IT APPEARED IN THE BACK, when Prince Adam transformed, FOR GOD'S SAKE!
It is still an exciting story-arc but Giffen and co. do not arouse a feeling of deserving to continue to write future stories of powered-up Adam and co. 'cause they do not capture the heart-and-soul which makes you want to care for years to come! THAT HONOR BELONGS solely TO FILMATION!
For issue 3, bring on Marlena Glenn, the astronaut from earth AND King Randor's Queen!

the original character from the 1980's He-Man series, ORKO, is being cast as a traitor!
Giffen and co., look down on the 1980's and ABUSE their vision to MOCK and get rid of a character that had my APPRECIATION for being a part of the cast.
Thanks to Orko AND the Sorceress, He-Man was surrounded by characters that did not give a vibe of him being a Conan clone who slices and dices!

Now there is not even He-Man, who served as a disguise for Prince Adam.
Now there is only Power Adam, with the NOT-innovative-claim, 'I am the Power'.

I too enjoy putting unneeded EMPHASIS on random NOUNS AND VERBS. Especially when I'm talking about comics BASED off of CRAPPY cartoons from the 80s.

Please INDULGE me while I go into EXTENSIVE DETAIL about THUNDERCATS and CAPTAIN N comics, because I have no idea how to MAKE things INTERESTING or APPEALING.

Seriously though, He Man has always been a shitty cartoon, not just from an anecdotal perspective but also from an objective one. How does this comic improve it?

I remembered He-Man and She-Ra, FROM THE 1980's, and was so GLAD to see them in comic form.
I find the Despara identity AND look APPEALING.
I find it CRAPPY that everybody knows Power Adam is also Prince Adam.

He-Man AND She-Ra DESERVE to be improved because they are to me INTERESTING.

I am GLAD that I care about characters that originated from a 'shitty cartoon'.
I INDULGE going into EXTENSIVE DETAIL.

HAIL caring-about-a-cartoon-from-the-80's!

That is made possible because of the fact that Power Adam is the power, now.
Castle Greyskull is now only that, a castle. No need for a guardian because what is there to guard since everything magical is inside Power Adam. This fact validates the character Teela being a cynical, mean-spirited character who can apply these traits for issue 3, Teela's Tale.

The revelation of how Teela and Adora know eachother is a good one. The banter between Teela and Power-Adam, to me, godawful. Where is the talking Battlecat to scratch Teela's face?

Teela and Power-Adam have a nice pose on top of one of the towers of Castle Grayskull (now, a thing of mere stone and mortar).

There is something CRUCIAL missing from this dc ongoing Power-Adam and the masters of the universe, series.
Power-Adam does not have the superhuman strength that enables him to lift and throw mountains! Nor can he jump or run at superhuman levels!
Page 5 Roboto has a nice look
Pages 6 and 7 Nice spread.
Page 11 Unmasked butch Adora enters. How lame that she confronts her enemies as the unmasked butch Adora instead of the fully masked Despara. So cliché in comics the last 10 years.
Page 17 Shadow Weaver looks nice.
Page 18 King Randor is taller and bulkier then Power-Adam. The conversation between the two of them is annoying. Power-Adam is not stoic and Randor states things that are unnecessary to mention. In issue 2 he was worse when he mentins that it is to much to take in that there exists a giant green cat that you can ride around on or a man made of moss who can control plants, AS IF RANDOR came from the planet Earth who got stranded on the planet Eternia.
Page 19 Battlecat is transformed back into Cringer? What NONSENSE! If Prince Adam remains Power-Adam as of issue 1, why not let Cringer remain Battlecat as of issue 2? Then again, it was NEVER shown that in issue 1, when Prince Adam became Power-Adam, Cringer became Battlecat. In issue 2 Battlecat literally appeared out of nowhere! Very LAZY and CONDESCENDING storytelling!
Page 21 Zoar appears! Nice surprise.

The overall view of Castle Grayskull and the Horde Troopers is nicely done.
What a letdown that Mekaneck had his extending neck when he was a child.
Prefer that he gained that ability as a grown man.
On page 8 Power-Adam responds to Zoar 'Don't give me that line of..'.
I can already guess how he wanted to finish that sentence. What makes it worse is that Zoar addresses him with 'Prince Adam of Eternia' on page 9.
To me, a cynical douchebag like him, doesn't deserve to be addressed in such a respectful way by Zoar, since he himself is anything but. My point is re-enforced when on page 10 he says ' Teela was right. Mages ARE infuriating'.
Teela is already depicted as an asshole and this issue makes it clear to me that Adam is too.
Prince Adam IS Power-Adam when transformed because he speaks and reacts like an obnoxious prick. No cool, calm, stoic and collected He-Man in this universe. I felt indifferent when Teela got stabbed. Sorry!
Page 18 had King Grayskull. Wish the character was never created but to late for that. Very LAZY when Power-Adam utters 'By the power of Graskull...',on page 18, he has pants and a shirt on page 19. Still, it is appropriate because this is Power-Adam NOT He-Man. Power-Adam should distinguish himself from He-Man with a completely different weapon and outfit. He-Man is cool, Power-Adam is not.
The last page is intriguing. What will butch Adora learn from Zoar?

The colored cover by Ed Benes is sensational. It is wonderful that She-Ra looks like SHE-RA.

Alas, cannot say the same about Power-Adam. Randor and he wear garbage outfits.
Their dialogue has improved. I am DISGUSTED that Duncan addresses Adam as 'He-Man'. NO WAY HE IS!
Randor is still much bulkier then Power-Adam.

Pages 4 and 5 are GREAT!
The planet Etheria is where this scene takes place. Etheria, YES.
The confrontation and revelation is fast paced. The dialogue of Shadow Weaver and butch Adora was good.

Here’s what the cover to a Masters of the Universe comic would look like if I were creating it (click the image for a larger version). I did promise that I’d share wallpapers and the art files I created when drawing this piece, and you can get them at the bottom of this post. First, my pitch for a MOTU mini-series:

I’d love to do an all-ages mini-series that would hearken back to the fun silliness of the 80s Filmation cartoon. By blending the kid-logic of the cartoon with character-driven, kid-friendly comedy, this mini-series would appeal to the adult MOTU fans who enjoy modern cartoons like Adventure Time or Gravity Falls. Like a cartoon series, individual issues would operate as stand-alone stories independent of any current continuity, yet episodes could build on one another to create a pleasurable reading experience in trade paperback form.

The mini-series might consist of three or six issues. Some of the stories that could exist in such a series include:

- When Two Heads Aren’t Better Than One. During a battle against the heroes of Eternia, Two-Bad finds himself dangling over a lava pit. As he begins to lose his grip he is saved by He-Man. Reflecting on this act of kindness, one of Two-Bad’s heads decides to change sides and fight for Eternia. But Two-Bad discovers that being a hero is a lot harder than being a villain! How will the two heads work out which side they’re on? Can someone be both good and evil?

- Mer-Man’s Momma. Though serving Skeletor is often a brutal and humiliating job, Mer-Man finds contentment in that he’s at least the Warlord of the ocean. But when his mother, a gigantic kraken-like monster, returns from the deepest ocean depths with his brothers and sisters, Mer-Man learns that his situation is not at all satisfactory by his family’s standards. When she plans to drag Snake Mountain to the bottom of the ocean and rule the Council of Evil in Skeletor’s place, with whom will Mer-Man side?

Enter god-awful Power-Adam and 'neck. Teela wakes up, decks butch Adora who hands her a dagger, who then proceeds to stab butch Adora in the stomach to get even. Useless page and lousy dialogue from butch Adora talking about a beautiful friendship.

Good fight scenes of Power-Adam and Mekaneck who (out of nowhere) are joined by Battlecat. It is so LAZY to have this happening and also so LAZY that off-panel, Cringer (who was last seen in issue 3) transformed back to Battlecat.
Page 4 had a nice conversation between butch Adora and asshole Teela.Page 5 had a Hordak with a face that looks like Hordak! Nice going Axel Gimenez!Page 7 has Power-Adam and Mekaneck reunited with the girls.Page 9 was a good surprise. Castle Grayskull is destroyed!Page 12 was a nice shot of the Talon Fighter.Page 13 and 14 featured a lousy conversation between Randor and Power-Adam. Page 15 featured an unnecessary revelation that Duncan IS the biological father of Teela. It was far better when the identity of Teela's biological father was a mystery instead of this LAZY cop-out. Page 16 featured a god-awful unmasked Stratos. Page 18 featured Cringer accompanying butch Adora. Page 19 featured Catra and Mantenna! Page 20 was a terrific conclusion to this story arc.

Although it was a good story it did not compel me to continue following the ongoing adventures of Power-Adam and the masters of the universe. Just as the GREAT Lou Scheimer passed away on October 17 in 2013, so too did the heart and soul of He-Man and the masters of the universe.
To me, the ongoing series is a mockery.

It makes me sad because I liked He-Man and all the other characters but him no longer being a disguise for Prince Adam, Battlecat no longer a disguise for Cringer and that She-Ra and Swift Wind NEVER EVER being the disguise of Princess Adora and Spirit, proves that this series is just a crappy Conan and Red Sonja rip-off (as in POOR QUALITY). Making Orko a traitor and Skeletor's master is pure garbage. Very LAZY to dispose of the trollan Orko in this manner instead of finding a clever way to make him being a friend and hero work.

I hinestly think that's the only logical direction the franchise could go at this point. MotU is very firmly tied to the early 80s in pretty much every aspect of itself. It has very little appeal to later generations or even earlier ones. They should just go all out and make something exclusively for the people who grew up with it

Just got a new job, got money coming in. I'm very excited. Health insurance is very important. Gets you out of many binds. lol Interesting comics, here I come. I am immensely excited. What do people think about features of comics that are important? What do people think about financial addressing of issues you really can't avoid? Health insurance really makes a change. It's more than a completely non-impacting thing. lol I think it can't be ignored to any large extent.
