Why is it considered acceptable and legal for social media companies and search engines to stalk their users?

Facebook trades data with over 300 other companies and even knows the conversations you have had and transcribes them through their AI transcriber in XBOX and Amazon Alexa "always on" microphones. It's not a conspiracy theory either this is confirmed and it is how Facebook shows you an ad for something you just talked about.

Google once got successfully sued because incognito browsers would email automatically all your searches to Google HQ for review by humans.

Because the people being spied on don't care. Even if they knew they would never trade the "convenience" of using some Alexa bullshit for their privacy back. It's always worth it to those people. I know a couple of them. They even think it's a fucking BENEFIT that the ads are tailored to them. They fucking welcome the intrusion. It's all just faceless help to them, never to be possibly used for sinister purposes, just to make their lives easier. They "have nothing to hide" is also one of their arguments for having listening devices installed in their homes waiting for them to call out for what time it is.

I will never understand these people. I do however understand the companies which do it. Greed, profit; these are what rule the world.

>Greed, profit;
Perhaps. Personally, I would do it probably just for relevance (as in it's no longer about money for someone like zuck, what is he gonna buy, another crib?) and my autistic data hoarding inclination. Another thing is that you don't set the boundary where you think it is moral, because that boundary will be pushed back on. You set the boundary where you get slap on the fingers. And then you push it again just to make sure and if needed retreat. I mean it's just common sense, the less authority you assume your company has - the shittier your company.

As I say
>DW - AI will make it all irrelevant
